iPod Features

This section explains how to use the iPod features of the iPhone, including sync, CoverFlow, menu customization, and more.
While the iTunes Genius feature allows you to create playlists and discover new music in iTunes, you can also use Genius on your iPhone, iPhone 3G, or iPod touch, to create playlists right on your mobile device.
The iPhone tops out at just 8 GB for all your data – including music. Most people have iTunes libraries much bigger than 8 GB. So, you’re forced to choose just part of your iTunes library to include on the iPhone. But, iTunes can create an iPhone-optimized playlist that you’ll be sure to love.
Despite having a dock connector, the iPhone doesn’t work smoothly with all iPod accessories. When you plug an iPhone into an iPod speaker dock or similar audio accessory that uses the dock connector, you may hear interference in the speakers.
The iPod feature of the iPhone lets you customize the icons at the bottom of the screen to reflect the things you’ll use most often. The iPod is the only part of the iPhone where you can make these kinds of changes.
The CoverFlow feature of iTunes has been added to the iPhone to really cool effect. Now, instead of just browsing songs or albums by name, you can also browse then by flicking through a collection of album art on your iPhone.
